Beko stands
out as one of Time Magazine’s “World’s Most Sustainable Companies”, thanks to
tangible achievements such as the use of over 27.8 tons of recycled plastic in
its products, an installed renewable energy capacity of 90.2 MWp, 61.9% of
revenue generated from highly energy-efficient products, and 71.5% from
low-carbon products. For the second consecutive year, the company has ranked
within the Top 20, securing the number one position in its sector.
The annual
ranking compiled by Time, in collaboration with Statista, evaluates over 5,000
companies worldwide using data-driven performance indicators focused on
environmental and social management, quality of reporting, and information
transparency. Beko made a significant leap, rising from 44th place in 2024 to
17th position this year, a notable advancement despite the stricter evaluation
criteria introduced by Time.
Key factors
contributing to Beko’s strong ranking include the implementation of low-carbon
production processes across its main global facilities, widespread use of
recycled materials throughout all product lines, transparency in ESG reporting,
and full traceability of the supply chain. Additionally, the company has
proactively adopted sustainable innovation standards in both Europe and
emerging markets. The Ulmi plant in Romania, powered entirely by renewable
energy, continues to serve as a global benchmark for low-impact manufacturing
and has been recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Sustainability
Lighthouse.
“This
recognition from Time and Statista demonstrates that sustainability and global
business growth can coexist. We are proud to lead our industry not only in
intentions but through tangible progress, smart design, and transparency in
everything we do,” explained Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of
Beko.
